Mr David Houlihan-Burne is a lower limb reconstruction surgeon, specialising in knee surgery, both of sports injuries and arthritis.

Mr Houlihan-Burne qualified from St Mary's Hospital Medical School, Imperial College in 1995. His Orthopaedic training took place in London with specialist and fellowship training in knee and sports injury surgery at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and the Jonathan Webb Clinic, Bristol.

He was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic Knee surgeon at The Hillingdon and Mount Vernon Hospital in 2005 and has built up a lower limb surgery practice, providing care for many local amateur and semi-professional sports players.

He has a particular interest in knee ligament surgery, as well as the treatment of knee arthritis in the younger patient, including knee cartilage transplantation. He has experience in all aspects of knee reconstructive surgery and is one of the UK and European lead surgeons in developing a rapid recovery protocol following hip and knee replacement surgery.

Mr Houlihan-Burne is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association, the British Association for Surgery of the Knee (BASK) and the British Association for Sports and Exercise Medicine (BASEM).
