Dr Duncan French has over 14 years' experience in elite professional sport and is recognised as a leading practitioner in the field of strength and conditioning.
Dr French gained his PhD in Exercise Physiology from the University of Connecticut, USA in 2004. He is the Technical Lead for Strength and Conditioning at the English Institute of Sport in the North West Region.
Since 2004, Dr French has acted as the National Lead for Strength and Conditioning to both Great Britain Taekwondo and Great Britain Basketball's Olympic programmes, and has coached Olympic, World Championship, and Commonwealth Games medallists from a variety of sporting disciplines. From 2009-12, he was the Head of Strength and Conditioning at Newcastle United Football Club.
Dr French has contributed to over 53 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts and four book chapters and has presented his work at scientific congresses across the world. He is a Senior Lecturer in Exercise Physiology (Strength and Conditioning) at Northumbria University and a founding member and former Chairman of the UK Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA).
