Professor Peter Verdonk is a Consultant in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Antwerp Orthopaedic Centre (Monica Hospitals) and Researcher at the Ghent University, Belgium. His clinical and research interests are knee surgery and arthroplasty with a particular focus on meniscus substitution and cartilage repair.
Professor Verdonk obtained his PhD at the Ghent University in 2006 on 'The Human Meniscus: characterization, transplantation and tissue engineering'. He received his orthopaedic training in Ghent University, and was a fellow of Professor Bellemans in Leuven and of Professor Neyret in Lyon.
He was an international travelling fellow of the International Cartilage Repair Society in 2004 and of the European Society of Sport Traumatology Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy in 2007.
Professor Verdonk has authored more than 68 peer reviewed papers and has lectured internationally. He is also involved in a number of national and international scientific organization. For more info please visit www.verdonk.be
